Dancers V vikings - our uniqueness

The bottom line is we all are unique, with our own unique biology, this means we all have a different tissue type and skeletal frame. Some of us are just naturally more flexible that others and some of us our naturally drawn to building strength. This does not mean if you're one of those people who is flexible, you can't be strong and vice versa, it's all about balance. The dance and viking concept can be found in Robert Schleip's book Fascial Fitness. I high recommend this book, and perhaps we can all begin to move away from the terms flexibility and strength, and more to elastic training and range of motion. Then maybe for those where touching the toes is a big journey they will feel more at home within any yoga class, as we break away from our stories of not being flexible or not being strong enough!
